The Island of Cuba offers a wonderful combination of five-star luxury resorts with idyllic surroundings and the bustle of Havana where the buildings may have faded but the character hasn't.  If you appreciate architecture and a mix of ancient and restored buildings you will love this place.

Varadero has an amazing long stretch of beach and lots of the resorts here offer the option of All-Inclusive, which is such a bonus on a holiday. It's a perfect destination if you are happy to lounge by the beach or the pool.  We would recommend a day trip to Havana though, the combination of impressive architecture, vintage cars everywhere and friendly people in the streets makes Havana unique. Make sure you visit Ernest Hemingway's favourite bars while you are there, La Floridita, famous for its daiquiris and home to a life-sized bronze statue of the man himself and La Boedguita del Medio an authentic small bar where Ernest enjoyed a Mojito or two!
